Auf ihrem Treffen in Barcelona hat der Vorstand der European Family Therapy Association folgende Deklaration verabschiedet:

„The General Board of EFTA meeting together in Barcelona issue the following declaration:
We the European Family Therapy Association are appalled at the violence and aggression perpetrated by Russia in the invasion of Ukraine. We call upon the Russian President Vladimir Putin to withdraw his troops immediately. This flagrant violation of the human right to safety and emotional well-being will have a traumatic impact on people caught up in the fighting on both sides and many others all over Europe for many generations to come. We call upon all members of the family therapy community to offer their services to the families of all those affected by this conflict and help facilitate a dialogue for peace and security at every opportunity.“

„Dear colleagues,
With pain and resentment we note that the governess of our country aggressively and without any justification attacked our neighbor country Ukraine – our brotherly people, with whom we have a thousand years of common history
We are against war. We clearly understand that nothing other than humanitarian catastrophe can be the result of it.
We feel shame for our governance, and while none of us has voted for these people, as citizens of our country, we can’t evade this responsibility, we do apologize to all the world for this.
We are professionals who have in any circumstance to help people. We have to maintain our professional society and we do hope to maintain our professional connections with all of you.“

Und hier noch die Stellungnahme des World Council for Psychotherapy:

„The World Council for Psychotherapy calls upon the Russian Government to immediately cease the invasion of Ukraine; stop the war; respect the law of nations; and bring back all Russian troops and weapons to their home country.
It is our view as Psychotherapists that a military invasion never solves problems, and never achieves its intended aims. Instead it creates immense damage, and causes destruction on many levels which can reverberate through the generations. This includes the personal suffering and deep trauma of both families and individuals at somatic, mental and emotional levels. Psychotherapists are committed to peaceful negotiation, dialogue and debate in conflict resolution, and we condemn war and violence. We call upon the Russian Government to stop the war, and establish peace through diplomacy in a thoughtful and mutually respectful manner.
We hope that the highest principles of the human spirit will prevail, and with all our hearts we wish that a resolution can be found which will restore freedom.
